The Unique Schools of Arts in Plovdiv – Past, Present and Future

The article presents the concept of a research project aimed at establishing and cataloging the unique vocational schools in Bulgaria, researching their history, current state and future development and popularizing the experience of teachers in preparing students for specific professions, for which these schools offer vocational training. Three art schools in the city of Plovdiv are represented - National School of Music and Dance Arts ‘Dobrin Petkov’, National High School of Stage and Screen Arts and National High School of Arts ‘Tsanko Lavrenov’. Included are excerpts from interviews, conducted with their principals. Conclusions are drawn in regards to what distinguishes each of the three schools and what makes them similar.
