SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING: A BALANCED, QUALITY EDUCATION

The challenges before the new generations of young people are becoming more difficult and complex. One of the ways in which the schools could respond to those challenges is implementing a Social Emotional Learning (SEL). This is the educational process through which children and students can develop their social and emotional competencies along with acquiring their academic knowledge in regular curriculum. They gain abilities in the areas of personal and social aspects. Integrated in the regular academic curriculum, adapted in accordance to the cultural differences, SEL leads children in the process of building more recourses and meanings for facing the life tasks and challenges – making them more resilient in an assertive and positive way.
