BUILDING THE KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT INFO-STRUCTURE OF THE ORGANISATION

Some of the critical challenges for knowledge management (KM) are related to the effective content management, fostering collaboration, facilitating finding of expertise, and supporting organisational learning and decision making based on detailed, up-to-date, well-integrated data, information and knowledge. Regardless of the way of their acquisition, knowledge objects contribute to enhancement of organisational knowledge and foster organisational competitiveness and sustainable growth. Therefore, knowledge should be preserved, developed, shared and used by individuals and organisations. Subsequently, the aim of the paper is to offer an approach for design of info-structure facilitating KM in the organisation. First, a brief introduction into organisational knowledge concepts is made, followed by a short overview of researchers’ understanding on organisational memory and knowledge management systems (KMS). In next part are pointed out the main factors, which need to be considered by KMS design, and some knowledge audit methods are introduced ensuring the basic information underlining KMS development. Finally, a concept for design of the KMS info-structure is proposed.
