Is Education Being Devaluated in the Era of Artificial Intelligence?

This research presents a multidimensional analysis of the phenomenon of “devaluation of education” in the context of the accelerated introduction of artificial intelligence (AI). The main thesis is that AI does not devalue education per se, but acts as a catalyst that reveals and deepens existing challenges, forcing a fundamental rethinking of the educational paradigm. The study systematically examines the economic aspects related to the changing value of traditional degrees and analyzes the need for a transition to competency-based education and new models for certifying skills. It tracks the cognitive and pedagogical transformations that AI is causing, emphasizing the need to adapt curricula and teaching methods. At a deeper level, it addresses philosophical questions about the nature of knowledge and learning in the age of AI, as well as ethical and social implications, including the risks of deepening inequalities. In conclusion, the article argues that responding to these challenges requires the development of flexible and proactive institutional strategies that will make education an adequate and sustainable process in the new technological reality.
