INTERDISCIPLINARITY PHENOMENON IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF MULTICULTURALISM IN HIGHER EDUCATION BASED ON THE EXPERIENCE OF UK UNIVERSITIES

Different characteristics of interdisciplinarity as a phenomenon of modern Western educational systems at the turn of the 20th – 21st century are disclosed and analyzed in the article. The value of interdisciplinarity in the development of multicultural higher education is determined. Transformation criteria of interdisciplinary curriculum are outlined, principles of its organization are discussed, as well as methods of achieving interdisciplinary strategy in the students’ learning process based on the experience of some UK universities are proposed.
